A very interesting read.

My comment to Chris as to whether people will pay to play online games of skill is yes they will and they do already. Take a look at the statistics from WorldWinner.com. Their members play 650,000 games a day (which is almost 8 games per second) and they spend an average of $1.65 per play.

uVme not designed for the student "gamer" market so there's no point making comparisons with Xbox etc but for the affluent middle aged plus market who have time and money at home to play a few puzzle challenges, sports game, board games etc. with an average game time of around 3 minutes. And of course, whilst the entry fee may be (say) $1.65 per play, that is not the cost of playing, because if you are of average ability you will win 50% of your games which will mean you will win cash too - so your average loss would be the game rake fee (25% on King.com and others). i.e. the "Payout" averages 75% with a 25% rake.

I do believe uVme have a USP (Unique Selling Point) - take a closer look at the 28 page insiders report, especially at the screenshot images - you will see things on those images that make uVme different from King.com, pogo.com and worldwinner.com and in my opinion could give it the edge over these other game sites.

I do hope uVme launch the games sooner rather than later as this will answer a lot of the questions of the doubters. That said and as has been said here - there's absolutely NO cost to pre-register and build a social/business network and make your decision at launch based on what your network does.

Also, when making your decision soley on cost of investment - a lot of people forget that profit is the thing to look for and profit is sales-cost of sales. Profit is the key, not the cost. I would prefer to make $1,000 a day with a cost of $200 a day than to make $700 a day with a "freebie".

Here's my link (yes, you've guessed it - I'm an associate) www.TheGameBiz.com.

BlackSky, whilst I do share some of Chris's views. I have to point out that the company behind uVme does have a solid history. I disagree with him that the technology they are implementing is old - it is the combination of IM, online games and Social Marketing that makes uVme just a little different... yes, only a 'little'. The additional difference here is that players are competing against others in tournaments across the world - for prize money. That's not something that his $650 x-box offers! Yes, there is a dramatic 'rake', the originators of the idea take the greatest cut and - at present - the focus is on building a team of associates to 'sell' the games rather than on the games themselves. That latter point is the element that worries me. I would dearly love to see and use some of these games so uVme associates (yes, you guessed it, I am one too) can better describe them to potential players. Until that happens the jury is still out. However, I felt I could not miss a chance here... imagine Google inviting associates to take a piece of their pie BEFORE they went global. Is uVme the next SecondLife/FaceBook/Skype/Microsoft...? I don't know. But it's worth a shot - and it's free to pre-register. The sensible thing to do, is for anyone who is still unsure to take a few moments to see what is really on offer. Oh, and just for completeness (and with apologies to BlackSky ;-)) here's my associate link: http://www.win2win.org
