Rss subscription drops… do you panic?

A lot of blog start writing oh my god my rss number drops… it is Google Blogs attack again….

Please, do you really care if your rss number drops to 50%? If this action affects you, I have news for you: you are not doing something right. I mean, Google search engine have no rss subscriber but everyone use it… hotmail have no rss subscriber but a lot of people use it… Facebook myspace too… What they have in common returning visitors.

Returning visitors is the key of any blog and website

Pamela googleYou can do a contest to get the most rss subscriber that you want but at the end, it is just a number from feedburner control by Google. If you decide to show it off, of course you will panic if the number drops because you know someone will notice that.

You cannot control Google’s toys!! There is one thing you can control and it is your blog quality and content. So your main goal it is to get the most returning visitors. The more returning visitors you get most successful you will be.

Someone can subscribe to your rss feed but never really read your blog or check your website. (like me) If you have a huge among of people that returning again and again. It means that you get their trust and loyalty (especially when they are typing the URL directly). You have authority

Google is internet godMy rss feedburner can be at zero but what I am looking for it is returning visitors. Branding and build your Authority is more important then anything else so stop panic for any Google’s toys number. Your blog is your space, this is the only thing you can control the rest don’t really matter.

I hope I will never see another blogsphere panic each time Google’s toy gets crazy….

some people will always panic when their site money making value drops down. First page rank drop, then few days later RSS numbers drop … I do check my RSS numbers few times a week, but do not take them too seriously. I find the numbers flawed, definitelly not displaying the actual number of people subscribed to a site … Why ? The numbers sometime fluctuate 20% up and down from day to day, and I do not believe that people unsubscribe from sites that much. They stop reading, yes, but they are too lazy to actually unsubscribe … Why bother what the Feedburner chicklet says …

The number is fake some people like the one who come on my blog just type the address directly or bookmarked my website so they have no reason to subscribe… I do think they are just like me .. this is nice for the one who want to do direct sale.
