Where you should search?

advertiser like youThe buzz continues and blog monetization is still a major issue for a lot of bloggers. If you have a blog and you are looking for a way to monetize it, you will go directly to an ad network like Google Adsense. It is a smart way to start but not a good thing if you really want to cover your blogging fees (domain, bandwidth and time) especially if you have a very low traffic and a non target niche. It is maybe time for you to find new way like direct sale. Where to find those advertisers?

I need an advertiser

Like this title, you have to call for an action…you have to tell any visitor that you want an advertiser and a potential advertiser will probably contact you to get more information.

If he asks for information, you need to be well prepared.

Do you know you visitors and your traffic in general?

You need an advertiser but do you know what you have to offer. A target niche is better to reach an advertiser. At least, you will know what kind of advertiser to attract. Let say you don’t have a target niche or your target niche doesn’t have so many advertiser possibility. Can you still find advertisers?

Yes, you can still find advertisers but you need to know your visitors and you traffic in general.

One way to know your visitor:

You have to understand what your hottest posts are.

Do they click on your picture? Etc.. You better have a traffic analyzer like Google analytic . (it’s free and user friendly).

Another way to know your visitor, it is to run a poll or a survey. Usually, non even 33% of you traffic will do it. You can run a small contest just to run a survey. The number of participation will be a lot higher and you will get relevant information about your visitors.

You need to get age range, sex, occupation ….. More information you have, more argument you can show to a potential advertiser.

Set up your blog for an advertiser

You find all the information that you need but does your blog is an advertiser ready. You must find a unique place to put those ads. You need a place that won’t be annoying for your readers but visible enough. This place should be appealing enough to make an advertiser spend their money on your blog.

You have two options:

You can put an ad in the text or on the side. They usually said the side is better but you have to test it or even better ask your readers. Most of the blog use a 125×125 ad size. Whatever your choice, make sure you ad size will fit naturally your blog template. Of course, a custom blog can be an option here.

This is the end of the part 1 so get all the information you need about your visitor and set up you blog to make it advertiser ready.

In the part 2, I will talk about what to do with all this information to set up a strong argument page and of course some tips and tricks to get an advertiser in a very short time.

So stay tune for the part 2.
