I try to like this diggbar because this diggbar solve one problem. You don’t have to go to digg.com to submit your content. It is like stumble upon.

Of course digg could not be another stumbleupon so they add some great features.

What the video to find out about those features

DiggBar from Kevin Rose on Vimeo.

So I should be happy because I will get more traffic easily. I am not so sure because this new toolbar is more evil then benefit. It is a frame (so 90s)

This is 3 reasons why:

1. The diggbar kill the banding

If you already have a high profile website, you may don’t care about this but a young and small website will be affected. People will share a digg.com url and digg get all the credit because at the end the user will say go to digg to get the best information about anything.

Your website will be one in a huge ocean.

Maybe it is a short url problem too!

2. Diggbar will compete with you with your own content

This is something crazy. You can find short digg url in Google index…. A picture worth a 1000 words:

digg search result

3. Digg will make money with your content. Like it or not

The more digg traffic grows and more digg will be able to ask more money. This is the power of one frame. This is digg new business model !

digg bar tool ads

Yes, digg load an ad script on your page….

As you can see digg benefit from any content, even Google don’t go this far and ask you to join a program in order to collect money from your content.

I know digg is losing traffic but they should not use a 90s trick to increase their own traffic.

Digg is not alone Facebook, stumble upon and many more jumps in this iframe party. We are back in 90s … it is crazy…

Prediction: plenty of website will block this content stealing…
