I have had many posts on the front page and I certainly have not gone the negative route. I'm sure negative does get noticed sometimes but I don't think you have to have a negative title in order to get noticed. It's much more important to have a catchy title or to use enough keywords in the title that people are intrigued enough or interested enough to click on it. I do think that Vic is right about the teaser. Getting the teaser right is probably the hardest part of the process and one that we everyone should work on getting right every time. I am constantly trying to improve the way I write my teasers. Jessica is correct with point #1 in that people with avatars or logos do seem to do better because people connect to them more. I don't completely agree with her second point because, again, I've had many stories that weren't about blogging that have done well. Stories about blogging do generally do better and are the majority of the top Zooms, but I think you can still do well with other articles if they're well written and entertaining.
